Remedies for the nursery

When I get a call that someone's child is sick, the remedies that I recommend to start with are pretty standard. Most of the glycerin extractions in my line were formulated when my own children were babies themselves and I needed to treat them for coughs, runny noses, colic, or diarrhea.

A few years ago, I created a "cheat cheat" that I give to my midwifery clients when their baby is born, and I'd love to share it with you here! I hope that this remedy chart helps you when you're up at 3 AM with an uncomfortable, fussy baby and you're not sure what to do!

Of course, I always recommend following your intuition as a mother when it comes to knowing when to take your child to a physician for treatment, but this little chart has helped many of my clients and family members in treating symptoms of illness in their children without the need for antibiotics.
Remember to ALWAYS dilute essential oils before applying them to a baby or toddler!

Many of the remedies on this chart are the same recommendation for older children or adults as well, we have equivalent capsulated formulas for nearly every glycerin extraction on this list.

Watch our blog for future posts with detailed instructions regarding alternative therapies such as onion poultices or ginger baths.. or you can always call our office to learn more from our staff! We would love to help you find the right remedies for your family, give us a call at (435) 586-2049 if you have any questions!

What a great list! Very helpful. I printed it off and put it in my favorite book…Prescription For Nutritional Healing.
I see you listed enema as alternative therapy for fevers and flu. Good!
I have given my three (b3, b5 and g7) enemas for the flu and fevers.
A chamomile or catnip tea enema is great for reducing a fever!
Enemas were given in most homes years ago. They are coming back into the home and again given by moms as a home remedy.
Not only does the enema reduce the fever, it hydrates and soothes.
Every mom should have a enema bulb in the home and give a enema when needed.
    Blessings.

What a great list! Thank you so much for posting. My little one is starting to teethe and I will have to try an epsom salt bath.

Hello Erin! Coconut oil can be very helpful for dry skin in newborns, and infant massage is such a lovely way to bond with your new little sidekick. You could add a drop of patchouli oil to your coconut oil as well, it is very good for the skin.

Aloha Vicki, what about newborn dry skin? Do I leave it be or massage him with coconut oil or something?
