My
vision is to empower people with the
information that they need to take responsibility for
their own health and create a healthy lifestyle for
themselves and their families. I know that the planet is
at the threshold of a healing renaissance and I am (one
of the) catalysts for this renaissance. It is my desire
and intent to help individuals and families become
comfortable and proficient in the use of herbs and other
natural healing modalities for their health and
well-being.
I want to teach families to be responsible for their
own health. We need to empower people with information
about nutrition, herbal medicine, aromatherapy, and
other modalities of healing to help them heal
themselves. Even the youngest child can learn about
simple herbal remedies and how to use them.
I was born in Ogden, Utah and grew up all over the
west. I was the oldest of five children. Most of my
youth was spent on a farm in Southern Idaho. I was a
sickly child, suffering from severe allergies and
asthma. It was my poor health and the ineffectiveness of
the medical treatment that started my looking for
alternatives.
One day in 1976 I picked up a Prevention magazine in
the grocery store and thus began an education into
natural healing that continues to this day. I began
working on my own health. Today I have healed my asthma
and no longer suffer year round from allergies.
I have taken classes from Stan Malstrom, Bernard
Jensen, David Christopher, and many other master
teachers. I received my Master Herbalist
Certification in 1983. I received certification as a
Spinal Touch Therapist in 1994 and certification as a
Transitional Therapist in 1995. I am also a Certified
Traditional Midwife and have attended births for over
twenty years, delivering hundreds of healthy babies.
In 1987, when trying to find a way to administer
herbs to my growing family, I learned how to make
glycerin extractions. I began formulating my own herbal
formulas and in 1998 began the herb company, Vickie
Sorensen's NATURE WORKS.
Over the years I have given lectures on herbs and
essential oils in schools, churches and to special
interest groups. Many lectures are given out in open
fields of herbs and on herb walks. I am not a doctor. I
am a teacher, and I love teaching about the wonderful
qualities of the plant kingdom. I believe that the more
people learn about herbs and use them, the healthier we
will become a people.
I currently reside in Cedar City, Utah with my
husband of 29 years. I have eight children and seven
grandchildren who are the light of my life. I love
growing and harvesting my own herbs from my five acre
garden.
